a little about me
Kingston — Ready for His Forever Home
Meet Kingston, a sweet, resilient little guy who’s bounced through too many homes and is finally ready to settle down for good. After multiple surgeries and devoted foster care, Kingston is healthy, happy, and searching for a loving family to call his own.
About Kingston
- Best as an only dog — does not do well with larger dogs and can be bossy/jealous with dogs his size. He wants to be the one-and-only.
- Loves people and attention; bonds quickly with women and warms to men more slowly. Once he trusts you, he’s loyal and affectionate.
- Enjoys sleeping in bed with his people or curled up in a nearby chair — likes to keep his humans in sight.
- Food-motivated (no free feeding; keep an eye on table food and drinks).
- Pad-trained and also enjoys outdoor walks; good on a harness and leash.
- Loves toys (especially socks) and simple fun like chasing ice cubes.
- Has a confident bark and is protective; can be nervous around loud or sudden things (brooms, flyswatters), but is improving with patience and gentle handling.
Medical & Recovery Summary
- Arrived in care 4/12/26 after owner surrender; diagnosed with a perineal hernia and other complications.
- Underwent multiple surgeries in April to repair the hernia and secure abdominal organs; discharged to foster care and placed on strict rest and recovery.
- Gradual improvements through May; sutures removed, gained weight, off crate rest with leash-only outdoor time during recovery.
- As of 6/11/26: feeling great, nearly finished with medical care — dental scheduled; ready to find his forever home once cleared.
Weight: ~10 lbs Training/Behavior: Potty pad trained, house manners improving, calm indoors while healing, enjoys walks and play.
Ideal Home
- Someone who will make Kingston the center of their life — preferably a single-dog household.
- Patient adults or a family who understands a little time may be needed for him to fully trust men.
- Will maintain a consistent feeding routine and supervise food access.
- Able to provide calm, affectionate care and continued gentle socialization (short walks, enrichment, and safe play).
Support & Thanks Kingston’s recovery was made possible by donations and the care of his foster family. He’s thriving now and ready to repay that kindness with years of love and loyalty.
