Pet Sitters International Announces Finalists

Five distinguished pet-sitting business owners have advanced to the next stage of judging for the industry’s most prestigious award.

KING, N.C. — Five outstanding pet-sitting business owners have been named top finalists for Pet Sitters International’s (PSI) 2026 Pet Sitter of the Year® Award, the highest accolade in the professional pet-care industry.

Pet Sitters International, the world’s leading educational association for professional pet sitters and dog walkers, proudly announces the following finalists who will advance to the next round of judging:

  • MiKayla Anders, Adventures in Pet Sitting – Salina, KS
  • Cynthia Hess, Your Fairy Catmother – Temple, PA
  • Michelle Hilaire, 4 Pet’s Sake Pet Care – La Plata, MD
  • Amy Munns, Leash4Lease, Inc. – Poulsbo, WA
  • Maris Sonnabend, House of Paws Pet Care – Eureka, MO

These finalists will now submit additional documentation detailing their business practices, community engagement, pet-care training, marketing strategies, and verification of a clear criminal history as part of the rigorous judging process.

Since 1995, PSI has honored one exemplary pet-sitting business owner annually with the Pet Sitter of the Year title. Finalists are evaluated based on client and professional references, commitment to quality care and professionalism, contributions to their local communities and the industry, and dedication to ongoing education.
