During her recovery, her body produced excess bone, resulting in a fixed position for her lower leg. This leg is slightly shorter than her other one, which causes her to carry it most of the time. While she can place it down, as a small dog, she has adapted by running without using it. When wearing her brace, she actively uses her leg, but this does not carry over when the brace is removed. On a positive note, her alignment has improved, and her leg no longer protrudes as it did before, allowing her to scratch comfortably. Betty remains the sweetest girl, completely unaware that her leg isn’t functioning at 100%.

Recently, she experienced a bout of pancreatitis, leading to adjustments in her diet. She is now eating canned gastro low-fat food. Additionally, her dental procedure to remove her last two teeth is scheduled for February 12, 2025.

November 18, 2024
Betty is beginning physical therapy to help her regain use of her leg. A custom brace has been made for her, and she will start using it next week. The procedure was intricate, but we are hopeful for a successful healing process that will allow her to use her leg again. For now, she enjoys being wheeled around in a stroller so she can stay close to her foster family.

July 29, 2024
Betty was evaluated by the orthopedic surgeon and is scheduled for Achilles tendon reconstruction on August 7, 2024. She will have an internal fixator placed during healing, followed by a minor surgery for its removal later on. We are excited about the possibility of helping her walk again!

June 7, 2024
Betty contracted kennel cough at the shelter, causing a delay in her orthopedic evaluation and surgery. While she is doing fine now, we want to ensure her full recovery before proceeding with surgery, to protect her and other pets at the clinic. We will provide updates as soon as her rescheduling is confirmed.

May 29, 2024
Betty was found as a stray and taken to a shelter, where she was reported to have a torn Achilles tendon. She is an incredibly sweet pup who greets everyone with a wagging tail! Before she can be adopted, she requires medical attention.

We will update her profile after her specialist visit on June 6, 2024.
