Kirby

a little about me

4/2/2024 – Kirby is currently a “work in progress.” Testing has confirmed that he does not have a liver shunt, but he is likely affected by microvascular dysplasia (MVD).

He arrived in our care after an incident where he bit a child. Initially, he was unkempt and resistant to grooming, leading us to the decision to anesthetize him for a proper shave. He has shown improvement with the dedicated efforts of his foster mom, who is taking her time with him. While he’s not quite ready for a complete grooming session yet, she is making gradual progress.

The biting behavior appears to be a reaction to excitement, resulting in nipping. Kirby is a sweet boy, but he does tend to jump and nip at legs. We are actively working on this behavior.

In summary, Kirby is receiving the attention he needs, but he is not yet ready for adoption.
