Sarge

a little about me

Hi, I’m Sarge. I was surrendered by my family when they realized they made a quick decision to bring me home and then didn’t have the time or space for me. It’s really sad when I think about it—getting something special and then letting it go as if feelings, safety, and life don’t matter, all because someone didn’t think things through. But now, I’m looking for a family that I can choose, and this time, I get a voice in the process.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a happy, boisterous, loving, smiling, playful, curious little guy — a four-legged bundle of joy. I’m always ready for anything:

  • Going for a walk? Let’s go!
  • Want a snack and a quick nap? Sounds perfect.
  • Fancy snuggling with popcorn and a movie? Count me in!
  • Or just relaxing in the backyard enjoying the sunshine and watching the leaves fall? I’m your guy.

Overall, I’m a laid-back, easygoing snuggle buddy.

I love sleeping in bed with my humans, I eat well, and I’m friendly with everyone I meet. I walk nicely on a leash, don’t bark much, and I’m not bothered by typical indoor noises. I take medication easily with a pill pocket. I’m also not overly clingy like some Yorkies, and I prefer not to jump—so I might need a little help getting on and off chairs, sofas, or the bed. (Though I admit, I’d probably jump if I weren’t a bit overweight. I’m confessing: I’m husky, a little chunky, vertically challenged, and heavy! I’m working on my weight, though — trying to eat less, even if it’s hard because I’m a chow hound at heart.)

I share my foster home with other dogs smaller and larger than me, as well as cats, and I get along with all of them. However, I can get a little jealous — especially during feeding time — and might growl at my fur-siblings if I feel threatened. A loving, firm owner who can help me work through these feelings would be ideal. Having a doggy friend who can keep me in check wouldn’t hurt, either.

Potty training is going well with pee pads, but mistakes happen — I’m still learning. I don’t really play with toys much, but maybe someday I’ll discover how much fun they are.

If you think you might be the right family for a lovable, affectionate guy like me, I’d love to meet you!
